Held

Terms of Service

Last updated: October 19, 2026

These terms cover your use of Held, an app for parents to capture family moments and revisit them later. By creating an account or using Held, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

The short version

Using Held

You need an account to use Held, created with an email and password or through Google Sign-In. You must be 18 or older to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Held is meant for personal use by parents and other adults capturing their own family's moments — you agree to use it only for lawful purposes and not to upload or store any content that's illegal, infringes on someone else's rights, or that you don't have the right to keep.

Your content

The photos, text, and other content you add to Held ("your content") is yours. Because it's stored locally on your device rather than on our servers, we don't have access to it, don't claim any ownership over it, and aren't able to see, use, or share it. You're solely responsible for your content and for backing it up — see the note above and in our Privacy Policy. If you send a moment or photo outside Held (for example, through your phone's share menu), what the recipient does with it is outside our control.

Family sharing

Held lets you create a private family space and invite people using an invite code. Treat invite codes like passwords: anyone who has a valid code can join the space, and members can see the family's name and who belongs to it. Only invite people you trust, and don't post codes publicly. You're responsible for the people you invite and for managing who belongs to your family space. We may reset or remove invite codes or memberships if we believe they're being misused. What is stored for family sharing is described in our Privacy Policy.

Free and paid features

Everything in Held today is free. We're planning some optional paid features in the future (like family sharing, cross-device sync, and printed memory books) — when those launch, we'll be clear about what's free versus paid, and we won't retroactively charge for features you already have access to.

Account termination

You can permanently delete your own account at any time from the account screen in the app — see our Privacy Policy for what that does. We may also suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, misuses the service, or attempts to interfere with Held's normal operation, though given Held's small scale today this would typically follow an attempt to reach you first.

No warranties

Held is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't guarantee that the app will be error-free, secure, or available without interruption, or that any content will be preserved without loss — this is especially true since your moments and photos live only on your device and aren't backed up by us. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Held and its creator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, photos, or content, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app — even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages. Because Held's free tier has no cost to you, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (which, for the current free tier, is $0). Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't legally be limited or excluded.

Changes to Held and these terms

Held is an early-stage, actively developed app, and features may change, be added, or be removed as it evolves. If we add features that change how your information is stored or shared (such as syncing across devices or sharing moments with family), we'll update these terms and our Privacy Policy first. We may update these terms from time to time; when we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and if a change is significant we'll look for a reasonable way to let you know within the app. Continuing to use Held after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
